From the Chairman's Desk

Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Fellow Stakeholders of Indian Horticulture — it is with immense pride and a sense of deep responsibility that I welcome you to CHAI's digital home.

When we founded the Confederation in 2011, our vision was simple but ambitious: to create a unified voice for horticulture in India — one that could cut across institutional boundaries and bring scientists, farmers, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to the same table.

Today, I am heartened to see that vision becoming reality. India's horticulture sector has demonstrated extraordinary resilience and dynamism, contributing over 34% of our agricultural GDP from just 12.5% of cropped area. Yet, this achievement is only the beginning. With a population projected to reach 1.6 billion by 2047, and the ambitious 'Amritkaal' vision before us, the demands on our sector have never been greater.

CHAI's role in this journey is to serve as a trusted bridge — between research and practice, between grassroots realities and policy corridors, between Indian expertise and global knowledge. I invite each one of you — researchers, students, farmers, industry leaders — to engage with CHAI, contribute your knowledge, and help us build the horticulture ecosystem that India deserves.
